What Genique does
Genique Lifesciences operates two lines of business. It is a channel partner and distributor of genomics technologies, supplying platforms, assays, software and implementation support to laboratories and institutions. It also provides genomics services to institutional customers on a business-to-business basis: bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data supplied by the customer, and sample-to-report services covering genotyping, whole exome and whole genome sequencing. Sequencing for these services is carried out in laboratories accredited to NABL and CAP standards. Genique does not offer testing directly to members of the public, and does not provide clinical or diagnostic services to patients.

Regulatory status of assays, analyses and reports
Sample-to-report services are performed in laboratories accredited to NABL and CAP standards, under those laboratories' quality management systems and validated methods. The underlying assays, including genotyping arrays and whole exome and whole genome sequencing, are labelled by their manufacturers for Research Use Only, and are not approved or licensed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation as in-vitro diagnostic devices. Accreditation of a laboratory is not approval of an assay: it evidences the quality system and method validation under which work is performed, and does not change the regulatory status of the assay itself. Reports issued by Genique are analytical outputs describing the genomic findings of the material or data supplied. A Genique report is not a diagnosis, and is not a clinical opinion or a recommendation for or against any treatment. Services are supplied to institutional customers under written agreement. The ordering laboratory, clinician or institution remains responsible for deciding whether a test is appropriate for an individual, for obtaining informed consent and any ethics approval required, and for the clinical interpretation of results and their communication to the individual concerned. Where Genique performs bioinformatics analysis only, it analyses the data as supplied and does not verify the provenance of the sample, the identity of the individual, or the consent under which the material was collected. This section does not apply to prenatal material; see Prenatal testing below.
Prenatal testing
Genique does not perform prenatal testing and does not receive, process or report on fetal samples. In compliance with the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994, no test or technology supplied by Genique may be used to determine or disclose the sex of a fetus. Genique does not offer, advertise or facilitate sex determination or sex selection in any form.
How GeniqueCARE reports are provided
GeniqueCARE and GeneRoots reports are described on this site to show the range of analysis Genique can perform. They are not sold directly to the public. A report is available only where it is ordered through a clinic, laboratory or partner organisation, which is responsible for clinical oversight, for consent, and for discussing the results with the individual concerned.
Wellness and consumer reports
GeniqueCARE lifestyle, nutrition, fitness and microbiome reports, and GeneRoots ancestry reports, are wellness and information products. They do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease and do not replace clinical consultation.
Clinical and pharmacogenomic reports
GeniqueScreen® carrier and hereditary cancer screening, GeniqueCARE DCVD cardiometabolic risk and pharmacogenomic reports are screening and risk-assessment tools. They estimate probability and do not confirm or exclude a diagnosis. Do not start, stop or change any medicine, treatment or screening plan on the basis of a report without discussing it with your treating clinician or prescriber. Results should be interpreted with a qualified clinician or a certified genetic counsellor.
Canine Screen
Canine Screen is a veterinary product for dogs. It is not a human health test and nothing in it should be applied to human health decisions.
